Livy starts out with saying that Remus received an omen (a negative point), Virgil starts out with with hunger being banished (a positive point) and Ovid starts in the midst of the story (not making a point), or they are very different in tone. Livy is telling facts or making is point as forward as possible. In stead of putting it in story form he is just saying what needs to be said as a fact. Virgil is in the form of poetry, or epic poetry. He describes things like Livy but he adds details and emotions to it. Ovid also uses poetry but he is using his poetry to tell a story. He gives much detail in every felling that a character has, he also uses much dialogue. Livy puts much stress on the ways Rome were formed as the others didn't. Livy sees Cacus as a totally different Ovid and Virgil. Livy says that Cacus is a Shepard while the others don't. Virgil says that Caucus is a monster, but I think that Virgil is trying to make a point, that Caucus is only a barbarian, or he is inhuman - just like a monster. In Ovoid's story that is different then the other two, is that Hercules removed the tree and flooded the banks around the river.
