Capitoline Hill in early Rome

Capitoline Hill has some of the oldest ruins in Greece today. In fact, there is now a museum dedicated to ancient facts. The buildings that house this museum are palaces dating back to the Renaissance and medieval time periods. You can find Capitoline Hill located in between the Campius Martius and the Forum. The forum is where Rome was before it expanded. It was a very busy area and still is. “The Campius Martius was a piece of Rome (about 2 square kilometers) that was not just publicly owned but in the Middle Ages was also one of the most populated places of Rome.” (Emilie Fabricius Algreen)In ancient Rome, Capitoline hill was tused as the major defensive point of the city. In fact, in 390 Capitoline Hill was the only place in the city not raided by barbarians. The reason the hill is the major defensive part of the city is because it is the highest pint of the city, and because of the dangerously sharp shards of rock that laid beneath it. In he earlier times, the generals would throw their enemies off the top of the hill and into the shards beneath it. Ouch!
