1.Augustus was a very successful man for many reasons. One of those which was probably one of the most important reason was that he was the adopted son of Caeser. Because he was his son he had his troops loyalty and the peoples. He was very careful in his rise to power though. He was very sensitive and careful. When he died he even planned for his next ruler to keep the peace! He also made a senate, gave governors regular salaries, and and kept peace. The nobles thought of this as the price of peace was augustus power. When Lepidus died who was the current leader of religion he took his place, so now he was also in charge of religion. His rule as also peaceful so people were almost always supporting him. “Virgil discovered the ideal figure of the Augustan Age: sober, tenacious, pious, a slave of duty” page 20. So from Virgils view he was a great ruler. The reason he did so much better than other rulers in my opinion is conflict. He seems to try to have minimal conflict with whatever he does. His laws help the people and do not make him supreme dictator, the people still have rights. He does not seem corrupt and the people see that and so do not hate him.
2. In the last paragraph of this it says that he thinks no other mans should ever hold so much power or be king in Rome. So he could also be talking about why Caesar was murdered. So he could be also giving a reason why Caesar was murdered because he had to much power.
3. There are many qualities that Augustus would want to emphasize. Smartness it tells about how one man outsmarts three other men. He does this by running from them and letting them chase them at their own pace. By doing this he does not have to face three on one but one on one. This also shows they ability he fights the strongest one first, while he is strongest. In the story he quickly beats both of the first men. He also fights three men kills them all and comes out suposively unharmed. So this story shows courage, intelligence, and revenge. He shows revenge by telling the final brother that he has gotten revenge for his brothers and this is for Rome to rule.
