Livy’s-There are many differences in there storys. Livys story varies very much from other storys. It starts out with a history lesson about were the city of Rome was built, and how it was built were Hercules slayed a monster. Then it talks about how he crossed a river with his finest. He also talks of how Cacus trys to prevent hercules from finding his cave. He tried to hide were he brought them from Hercules but he was still found. When He was found he supposivly was slayed by a single blow from Hercules, after trying to get his comrades to help him. In the other story’s he puts up a fierce fight and has no comrades to help him.

Livys story is in my opinion the worst story or interesting one of the three story’s. Livy uses details that are associated with showing just how they chose a place to build Rome and some of its history before it was around. His story tells me the least information about the fight between Hercules and Cacus. It tellls me Cacus is a monster and a theif and Hercules is a hero. It is very different from the other story’s. I do not think it sends the message Hercules is a great hero. But details do not seem to support it because the climax of the story is. Hercules killed him with a blow from his club, after vainly asking for help from his companions. So the larger message is very untouched here.

Vergils

In Vergils story it talks about how Cacus drove off the cattle from their stalls. In other storys it does not say they had stalls were just temporarily there. It talks about how he was feeding them when one of the four cows that he had stolen from Hercules awnser the call. When he followed its path he found Cacus’s cave. In this story Hercules destroys the top of his cave were Cacus had tried to hide from him. There they had a great fight which Hercules eventually won. Then he had a great feast with the stolen cows and invited other shepherds to the feast to eat it with him. There they had enormous part with songs and priests. They also song a song of what monsters he had defeated and you had destroyed every monster you have ever faced.

Vergils story tells me about how they fought and why it happened. It gives me a Understanding about what happened. It tells about a great party after it were they celebrate Hercules triumph over the monster Cacus. I think it gives me the most information about the story. It is very detailed and helps show how Hercules is a great hero. It also gives me many details about the monster Cacus. I think this story shows the larger message very well.

Ovid

In Ovids story Hercules had two cows stolen not four. He also was not able to find them but he heard the cows mooing or he would have never found them. When he finds the cave they are blocked in by a boulder. But this time Hercules did break through it and had another enormous fight with Cacus. He won also and invited other shepherds to come. He also set up a alter to Maxima, the Mightiest.

Ovids story makes me think of how great a hero Hercules is.
