Part I

1. Oedipus in a way is responsible for his actions and some of it is isn’t his fault. In other words he killed a man and Oedipus didn’t know who it was, when it actually was the king and it was his father. But if Oedipus new that the man was his father then he wouldn’t have killed him. So I think that Oedipus is innocent. Oedipus also didn’t know that his mother was Jocasta and so its not his fault that he married her. He wouldn’t have married her if he knew before hand. I also think that Oedipus is not guilty because his father Laius wanted to kill him when he was a baby, so their is the revenge to Laius. But I know that if Oedipus knew that Laius was his father, then he would not have killed Laius no matter what Laius said to Oedipus. But if someone harasses you then you have to do something about it by defending yourself. Let say a random person on the street came up to me and said you suck and the Lakers suck! I am not going to just stand their and let him talk about me like that. I am either going to fight back physically or mentally.

Part II

“You can be confident that I will help.” Line (10). This is saying that Oedipus is sure that he will help the Priest. Oedipus is confident that he can help the priest.

“For our city, as yourself can see, is badly shaken.” Line (26). The priest is saying that Oedipus can see that the city is doing bad. He is mentioning how the city has badly shaken and it is not going in the right direction.
