Joseph Campbell " The Hero's adventure"
- Joseph Campbell tells us how the people of today do not seem to be very spiritual and are not connected to the world around them. In my opinion I think that this is true on some ways but not in others. I do agree with J.C because in the world today people are very lazy. Most people don't worry about the things around them as much, they are lazy and when a chance does come for them to help someone or something they usually just pass it by thinking that someone else will do it, but not all people are like this. Some people do take that opportunity and help the people around them or do try to help with every chance that they get. Some of the people that like to help others could be the military or the army. These people risk there lives in order to save hundreds or thousands or others. Then there is the other people that do try but at the same time feel that they are not very important. Some people feel this way because They look at the world as a whole and they see how many people there are, or they think that they are just not very important and can not make a big difference. With these people they end up giving up on what they wanted or they settle with what they already have never trying to go for something new or better.
- " Reports for the origins of Athens"- - - - - In the beginning of the pages in the section about Herodotus it is explaining how Athens was before it came to be. Before Athens the people were separated into two different groups. One of the groups, the Pelasgi, were adventurers. This group enjoyed to travel and spread out into different tribes that were very small, also as they separated there language, as the other group stayed in the same place and kept there original language. As you move through the periods and the paragraphs it showed me how the rules changed and the people and tribes evolved. In Plutarch it shows how much the people finally had changed. It showed how they got together and formed a society and how it worked. Then in the final paragraph it shows how the society went down and how people became enslaved. At first Athens was a non community and they were peaceful with each other. Towards the end they no longer were peaceful and started to slowly treat each other differently.
